Electrolysis
The only proven method of permanent hair removal. After your treatment plan is complete, those unwanted hairs will never return. Electrolysis has been an effective permanent hair removal solution since 1875! Electrolysis works on all hair types and colors, including blonde and grey hair and can be done almost everywhere on the body.

There are 3 different types of electrolysis:
~Thermolysis is a technique that uses heat to remove the hair and terminate growth.
~Galvanic uses a current causing the natural salts and water in the hair follicle to react to form sodium hydroxide, also known as lye. Lye destroys hair growth cells.
~ Blend is a combination of thermolysis and galvanic and has the benefits of both modalities and is the preferred method at Silky Smooth.

Electrolysis is not a one time treatment and several sessions may be required for permanent hair removal.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does electrolysis work?A single use filament, the size of a hair, is carefully inserted into each individual hair follicle. A small current is emitted destroying the hair growth cells and releasing the hair which is then removed with tweezers.
How many treatments are required? The number of treatments required is dependent on hair type and area being treated. A personal consultation will provide an individual assessment and treatment plan.
Is electrolysis safe and effective?Silky Smooth is an AHS approved studio. Single use sterile filaments are used in each treatment. Electrolysis has been used for over 100 years and is effective on all hair types and colors. The FDA describes electrolysis as the only permanent method of hair removal.
